The Structural Diagnostic System™

The Structural Diagnostic System™ (SDS) examines conditions identified during the Structured Readiness Lens™ (SRL) at the ground level.

It focuses on the structure that produces the monthly results executives review, developing a more comprehensive understanding of how inputs and outputs flow through the structure.

The SDS uses a structured methodology and a variety of tools designed to examine conditions across all levels of the organization. While the tools vary, each is grounded in the six pillars and contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the company.

The SDS Tools are:

Checklist for Action Items – an initial assessment tool used to establish a high-level baseline of the company’s structure and the six pillars through observable facts and shared conditions.

Structure Analysis – a diagnostic tool used to develop an initial structural perspective of the company. It examines observable patterns, alignment, and friction across the six pillars to help identify areas requiring deeper examination.

Interview Tool – a structured interview process used across all levels of the organization to gather individual perspectives, context, and lived experience. It provides depth and explanation regarding how structures, systems, and decisions are experienced in practice and their impact on the inputs and outputs.

Innovation Tool – designed to gather insight across all levels of the innovation function. It examines how structure, systems, processes, and workforce readiness affect innovation activity.

Workforce Survey Tool – designed to gather anonymous employee perspectives. It captures how employees experience the organization in practice and provides insight into conditions affecting workforce readiness.

AI Assessment – designed to examine how artificial intelligence is embedded within the company. It provides insight into how AI affects the structure, workforce, processes, and the company’s ability to realize value from AI initiatives.

Pivot Analysis – a forward-looking assessment that examines industry direction, market opportunities, competitor activity, technology trends, and future value pools. It compares the structure required to compete and potentially lead.

Transaction Analysis  – selected transactions within each pillar are examined to understand how work, decisions, ownership, and leadership involvement flow through the organization. Findings provide evidence of how structure functions in practice.

Metrics – A variety of metrics and measurements identified during the SDS are summarized and reviewed with leadership for approval as a baseline for future comparison.

Together, the SDS tools provide a structured methodology for examining conditions identified through the SRL. The Structural Diagnostic System™ develops a more comprehensive understanding of how the company’s structure operates and how conditions within it may affect execution and results.
